A fascinating example of Chopard’s luxury sports-watch heritage, this St. Moritz Jumbo Ref. 8379 combines the distinctive integrated-bracelet design with the exceptional Frédéric Piguet Calibre 1150.

Introduced in 1980, the St. Moritz was Chopard’s first steel sports watch and the first watch designed by the young Karl-Friedrich Scheufele. Its combination of stainless steel, exposed bezel screws and integrated bracelet established a bold new identity for Chopard. Almost four decades later, the historic St. Moritz would provide the inspiration for the modern Alpine Eagle.

This 1990s Ref. 8379 is particularly attractive in its larger 37.5 mm “Jumbo” format. More importantly, inside beats the superb Frédéric Piguet 1150, one of the great ultra-thin automatic movements of its era. At only around 3.25 mm thick, its sophisticated twin-barrel construction provides an impressive power reserve of approximately 100 hours.

The combination of Chopard’s historically important St. Moritz design and the refined FP 1150 makes this an especially interesting piece for collectors of understated 1990s luxury sports watches.
